  7. Making Symmetrical Paintings Fold paper in half. Unfold the paper. Paint pictures on one half of the paper. Fold the paper, pressing the painted half and the unpainted help together while the paint is still wet. Unfold the paper. What does it mean when we say that things are symmetrical? When pictures are dry, outline the designs with markers.

  8. Measuring Capacity Observe the cup and pint containers. Remember that cups and pints are units of measure that tell how much a container holds. Watch as the substance is poured into the large bowl. Estimate how many cups fit into one pint. Check your estimates. Estimate how many cups and pints the bowl holds.

  9. Reviewing Symmetrical Shapes with Geoboards 1. Work in pairs. 2. Stretch the rubber bands around the middle column of pins on the same geoboard to create a line of symmetry. 3. Partner A uses one of the rubber bands to create half a shape on one side of the line of symmetry. 4. Partner B uses the other rubber band to complete the symmetrical shape. 5. Trade roles and create a new symmetrical shape.
