2. 1 Aims of this session • To learn what ‘ILT’ is • To look at how ILT relates to learning and teaching theory • To learn about how ILT can be used by students to develop functional skills • To learn about how ILT can be used by tutors to develop core skills • To see how Yvonne uses ILT to demonstrate core skills • To identify resources relating to the use of ILT in learning and teaching

3. 2 Putting ILT in context • ‘ICT’ = Information and Communications Technologies. • I’L’T = technology and its uses in learning and teaching; not only in learning and teaching, but in the process of delivering and recording learning and teaching. • Use of ICT is a functional skill (for students) • Use of ICT is core skill (for tutors) • Use of ILT is one of the criteria that standards authorities inspect (e.g. Ofsted)
