This presentation outlines the role of Defense Distribution Depots (DD) in managing supply chain operations for retail activities at co-located DLA Depots. It covers the process of filling and shipping orders, receiving and storing material, and handling discrepancies. Notably, the presentation highlights the varied processing of discrepancies across DD sites and the challenges faced by different military branches, such as the Navy, Army, and Air Force, in ensuring efficient operations. Potential solutions to current pitfalls and a key question regarding credit from wholesalers are raised for discussion.

SDR’s for Service Retail Materiel stored at co-located DLA Depots Presented By the Defense Distribution Depot
Current Operations • Retail activities co-located with a DD orders supplies form a wholesale manager. • Wholesale manager fills order and ships to the co-located DD • Co-located DD receives and stores materiel for the retail activity. • Retail activity then requisitions materiel from the DD as needed.
Current Operations • DD role is to act as custodian of the materiel for materiel owners. • For discrepant shipments that arrive at a DD for retail owners, the DD sends a type 8 to inform the retail owner of the discrepancy. • Responsibility for submission of the discrepancy to the wholesale seller lies with the retail manager, as the DD’s do not know what disposition request the retail manager seeks. (Credit, Reship, return etc..)
Current Pitfalls • Each Co-located DD site is processing these type discrepancies slightly different. • Current process is difficult for all parties. • Navy has put in place a system that is working, where they turn around the SDR as previously outlined. • Army @DDRT works offline with the Retail manager, DDCT always asks for credit and submits ISDR’s thru WEBSDR for the retail customer. • Air Force- DD’s submit SDR to retail account, receive disposition, but credit has yet to be determined. Question- Does the retail activity receive credit from the wholesaler?
