LANGUAGE ARTS • Spelling and Vocabulary: weekly test on both, 3 spelling lists • Reading Groups (Book Club): based on Lexile levels (once a week) • Grammar: weekly • Anthology: 1 story/week (focus on vocabulary and comprehension skills) • 4th Grade Core Literature: • By the Great Horn Spoon and • Island of the Blue Dolphins • Reading Counts: computer quiz • STAR Writing Test: March 2014 (maybe!) • MATH • Books: Student Reference, Journal, Study Links • Morning Work: daily to reinforce • skills from 3rd grade and new skills • Quiz: weekly quizzes on Fridays • Facts Test: timed multiplication/ division (weekly) • Family Letter: before each unit SPECIALISTS Days & Times TBD - Computers - Music - P.E. - Library - Meet the Masters (Art) SOCIAL STUDIES Create a State & Rancho Projects(Fall) Mission Report (Winter) Gold Rush Report (Spring) FIELD TRIPS Tentative: Stagecoach Museum Santa Barbara Mission Focus on the Arts (T.O.H.S.) General Class RulesCreated by Room 14 Students • Be Respectful • listen to the person who is talking • be truthful • raise your hand and wait to be called • be polite • follow directions the first time • keep your bodies to yourselves • be fair, helpful, and understanding • Be Responsible • come to school on time • be prepared to learn • be safe • take care of all classroom supplies • turn in work on time • keep your space neat and organized • complete your best 4th grade work • finish what you start • ** Class Contract ** • Please take home, review with your child, sign, and return to school tomorrow.

  8. Behavior Rewards / Consequences • Fabulous Friday Fun • “Hofer”opoly • No Homework = Benched • Responsibility Slip (student-teacher conference and parent signature) • Class Meetings – to discuss issues that come up during the week. Focus is on positive communication and teamwork.

Homework & Grading • Class Website: www.schoolrack.com/lcadunn/ • Homework should be completed nightly (Mon. – Thurs.) • Parents need to sign Homework Notebooks every night. • Binders should be taken home every night and should be returned to school every day. • Homework is practice and is not a grade. • Reading Logs – due every Monday • No late homework – students will complete during recess. • Study Hall – Fridays • Parent Folders – Parent Communication (comes home weekly, write comments, sign, and return) • Grading Policy (info packet) • Tests/Graded Papers 69% and below must return to me with a parent/guardian signature

  10. Volunteer Opportunities • Room 14 Volunteers: • Room Parents • Library Parents • Tuesdays at 11:45am-12:15pm • or • Wednesdays at 1:30-2:30pm • Meet the Masters Assistants • Once a month art projects • NO TRAININGS REQUIRED! • PTA Volunteers • Please sign up before you leave! 
