  1. Science Olympiad Meeting2/12/2014 Dates to Remember: Field Trip March 7th 9:00am – 2:15pm – If we have enough drivers. Event Box Prep – March 6th 1:10 pm - ? Be at Sac. State at 6:45 am March 8th for competition. Each competitor must provide their own transportation to and from Sac. State.

  2. March 7th Field Trip We will need drivers to take approximately 15 students to Sac. State for the day. Driving requires: Fingerprinting at the district Proof of insurance Field Trip Times: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

  3. Uniforms • Uniform Jerseys and Sweatshirts will be ready for pick-up February after the vacation. The have been ordered.

  4. What Kids Need to do Now until March 8th • STUDY • STUDY • STUDY • STUDY • STUDY • STUDY • STUDY

  5. How Parents Help Prepare for Events • Learn the content and coach your child on a weekly basis. • Ensure competitive members are studying at least 1 hour each night or more. • Quiz them. • Help construct building events. • Set – up study sessions with other teammates. • Assist them in research by finding information on web, purchasing software or resources needed to learn content, finding practice tests online.

  6. Parent Volunteers • The Science Olympiad Organization requires each team participating in the competition to provide 2 volunteers for the day to help with events. • We need to submit our two volunteers by Friday of this week. If you would like to volunteer please see me after the meeting. I will need your phone number, address, etc.

  7. Competition Food Sign -Ups • Please Sign – up to bring food or drinks in one of the categories on the clip board. We like to provide our competitors healthy and some sweet snacks to munch on during the competition. • Eating venues at Sac. State should be open during the day of the competition.

  8. Preparations for Competition on March 8th • Binders and study guides completed. • All building events must be labeled with the name BARRETT and # 12. • All building events must be measured for accuracy. • Know what materials can be brought into events and event boxes are packed.

  9. Must have Items for March 8th • Watch • Closed toed shoes • Pants for chemistry events • Barrett uniform shirt • Hair pulled back for chemistry events • Own calculator if event allows programming. • Personal binders or study guides for events.

  10. Specialty Items for Competition • Lawn Chairs ( for awards ceremony ) • Blanket ( for awards ceremony ) • Special Snacks / Lunch for Child • Something to do for 6 hours.
