  3. Behavior Plan Individual Behavior Plan • Class Dojo-Online Management Program • Point system that parents can monitor Color Cards • Students flip cards according to behavior. Whole Class Behavior Plan • Class Dojo points • Reward given to whole class when points are reached.

  4. Student of the Week • Packet and Poster • Guest Reader Birthdays • Celebrate with a snack • Guest Reader Scholastic Reading Club • Place order online • Orders sent home monthly

  5. Homework Read for 15-20 minutes each night • Reading assignment from weekly calendar due every Friday. Monday and Tuesday-Math • Homework is a review of skills covered in class. Wednesday-Spelling • Write 6 words that follow weekly spelling skill. Thursday • Study Simple Solutions and Spelling.

  6. First Grade Schedule • Lunch and Recess: 12:30-1:10 • Snack: Each Morning • Monday-Music • Tuesday-Library • Wednesday-Gym • Friday-Mass and Gym

  7. Curriculum Reading • Develop fluency, comprehension and vocabulary. • Reflect, analyze and discuss different genres of literature. • Small group reading • Book Basket for independent reading • Reading Notebook

  8. WRITING • Sentence Structure • Parts of Speech • Journal Writing • Focus on different forms of writing Narrative Informational Persuasive Poetry

  9. Spelling • Long and Short Vowel Patterns • Blends and Diagraphs • Initial, medial, and final sounds • Compound Words • Syllables High Frequency Words • Word Wall Words • 4 new words a week Handwriting • Review proper letter formation

  10. Math Daily Practice and Review of Concepts • Addition and Subtraction • Fact Families • Place Value • Telling Time • Fractions • Geometry • Measurement • Double Digit Addition and Subtraction • Simple Solutions • IXL Online Program

  11. Science • Presented through informational nonfiction materials. • Hands-on experiments using the steps in the scientific method. Social Studies: • Rules and Laws • Maps and Directions • Past, present, and future events • Geography • Holidays

  12. Religion • Explore life of Jesus through Gospel and classroom activities. • Daily Prayer • Participate at Mass • Liturgical Seasons of the Church • Activities during Advent and Lent • Saints

  13. Social Development Second Step Program • Hands on activities for social and academic success • Skills for learning, self-regulation, empathy, and emotion management
