  4. preface Kanchanaburi is famous for its rivers,waterfalls,caves,gem fields and archaeologicalsites. My group are interested in learning a bout English for tourism in kanchanaburi my group would like to thank for kindnes of miss Jantana khamanukul and other people to complete our on in this English project.

  5. The Bridge Over the River Kwai

  6. Internationally famous thanks to several motion pictures and books, the black iron bridge was brought from Java by the Japanese Army and reassembled under Japanese supervision by Allied prisoners of war labour as part of the “Death Railway”

  7. linking Thailand with Myanmar. Still in use today, the bridge was the target of frequent Allied bombing raids during 1945, and was rebuilt after the war ended. The curved spans of the bridge are the original sections.

  8. Erawan National Park

  9. 65 kilometres from Kanchanaburi along Highway 3199, this 500-square-kilometre national park is the site of the 7-tiered Erawan Waterfall, widely regarded as being one of Thailand's loveliest cascades.

  10. A mountainside forest setting includes dense bamboo groves which support numerous bird species. Bungalow accommodations and camping are available.

  11. Kanchanaburi Safari Park & Open Zoo

  12. Just 40 km from town in Bo Phloi District, Kanchanaburi Safari Park & Open Zoo is a man-made habitat for several African & Asian animals - lions, tigers, giraffes, zebras and bears.

  13. The landscaping is beautifully designed and offers great insights into the habits of the animals. The whole area around the park is highlighted by some beautifully decorated pavilions which house gift shops, cafes and restaurants.

  14. Bowls of food to feed the animals (bananas, vegetables etc.) can be bought from the main entrance for just a few Baht. In the centre of the complex is our beautiful restaurant, overlooking the lake. This is a good spot for a cold drink before heading off to see one of the many daily animal shows.

  15. Cars and pick ups are welcome to drive around inside the park. The best way to see the whole grounds is to take one of the park buses. The driver will take you through each section, giving you excellent photo opportunities as well as getting "up close and personal" with several animals, most notably the giraffes who will "invade" the bus for some food...great fun!

  16. The Safari Park & Open Zoo allows visitors the unique opportunity to get really close to a wide variety of animals. Our park buses will slowly drive through each area and the driver will explain evrything en route. Watch out for those Giraffes...!!!

  17. The landscape has been designed to each animals natural habitat. You can feed the animals directly from the bus as they all come up to say "hello". As you continue on into the heart of the park you can't help but be amazed at the number of Asian & African animals.

  18. We have giraffes, tigers, lions, zebras, bears, monkeys, tropical birds, crocodiles and a beautiful butterfly garden which houses stunning flowers and plants.

  20. About 8 kilometres from the Baan Kao National Museum, on Highway 323 between Kanchanaburi and Sai Yok, lies Muang Singh Historical Park. Here you can find the ruins of a 16-18 th century castle surrounded by a moat and multitiered earten wall. The park is open for tourists everyday from 09.00-16.30 hours. The admission fee is 40 bath.

  21. On the same route, about 20 kilometres, you can visit the Sai Yok Noi waterfall (Khao Phang) and further 40 kilometres is the Sai Yok Yai Waterfall (Khao Jone) is located. These are favourite spots for sightseeing, picnicking and swimming. Those who enjoy swimming in hot springs may travel to km. 107 and visit The Hindad Hot Springs.

  23. His Holiness Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, the Supreme Patriarch is a native of Kanchanaburi Province. He was formerly known a Charoen Gajavatra. He was born on October 3, 1913. According to the lunar calendar, his birth date fell on Friday, the fourth day of the waxing moon in the eleventh month of the Year of the Ox. His birthplace was Ban Nua Sub-district, Mueang District, Kanchanaburi Province.

His father’s name was Noi and his mother’s name was Kimnoi. Noi Gajavatra was a son of Nai Lek and Nang Daeng-Im and agrandson of Luang Phiphit Phakdi and Nang Jean. Luang Phiphit Phakdiwas a native of Ayutthaya who worked as a civil servant in Bangkok.

The right side, you can see the Mae – The Klong Muang Damn.
