Turnabouts • Maneuver for turning your car around to go in the opposite direction. • Precautions about taking a turnaround • Make sure you have enough room • Be sure Local laws permit it • Have Plenty of visibility(about a football field length) • Don’t make a turnabout near • Hills • Curves • Within 200ft of a intersection • Heavy Traffic

  3. Backing into a driveway(Right) • Check traffic to the rear and signal stop just past the driveway • Stop 2-3 ft from curb. Check Traffic again. Then slowly reverse into driveway using hand over hand positioning. • Mid Block U Turn • Wide enough Space • Check traffic • Signal right and pull to far right, STOP. • From the stop position, signal left and proceed forward. • Check Traffic and then sharply turn left while moving slowly. • As you come out of the turn, accelerate gently into the proper lane

Pulling Into a Driveway (Left) • Check traffic ahead and rear • Signal and follow left turn procedure • Once in driveway, stop, straighten wheels, check traffic again • Backup to right of road, gently accelerate once wheels have straightened out. • Pulling into a Driveway (Right) • Check traffic to the rear • Signal and follow right turn procedure • Once in driveway, stop, straighten wheels, check traffic again • Backup to left of road, gently accelerate once wheels have straightened out.

  5. Three Point Turn aka the K turn • Most hazardous to perform. Why? • How to execute… • Check traffic to your rear and over your right shoulder. Signal right and stop close to the curb. • From this position check traffic again and signal left turn. • Turn sharply left while moving slowly, stop with the wheels straight. • Check traffic again, Turn wheels sharply to RIGHT while backing up slowly. Back up only as far as necessary to complete the turn • Check traffic again and signal left. Move slowly forward while steering left onto traffic.
