  • Even though slavery is wrong, I worry about the Emancipation Proclamation. Slavery is an important part of the economy. I do not mind if they are freed, but I do not want them to come north and take away all of the good jobs that we true Americans need.

  • As a slave, I can tell you that no man, no matter what color his skin, can truly be the property of another. Slaves are not things; they are people, and they are Americans.
