  2. Integrated Academic Classes What academic classes in your district could become an integrated CTE class and still maintain the academic content/credit?

Beginnings of AICTE • 1990’s – CCCS work with CSU to create applied academic credentials (CORD consortium) • 2000 – Alg Principles in Business – Jeffco • 2007 – crosswalk/lesson plans – WCCC/Career Center • 2009 – Math in CTE – WCCC/Mesa Dist 51(CCCS grant project) • 2010 & 2011– AICTE to add Science and LArts with direct instruction of academic standards by core teachers (CCCS grant project) • 2011 – AICTE approved by credentialing task force for Integrated math, or science or communications credential

  5. EDU 253 Syllabus From Outline: I and II (see handout) • I – choosing academic standards on CCCS course builder • I – use in Cherry Creek School District and • II – direct integrated instruction demo (Jay Moore)

  6. Lessons Plans • You are sitting with your math, science or LArts team • Read your academic standard and the crosswalk with the CTE standard • In your group create: • A theme or unit name • An essential learning question(s) • Learning goals or objectives HOW DID YOU DO?

Most significant thing I learned from AICTE • Communications with partners and colleagues • Hearing other teachers subjects presentations • Partner time to work • Science is everywhere; using scientific methods daily • Reinforced that common language is essential for student growth • Importance of lesson plan • How valuable connection is to CTE to help students learn and retain concepts
