  3. Library Media Center Hours Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. *available for extended hours upon request

  4. Access to the Library Media Center: • Students must ALWAYS sign-in and show their ID. • 7:00 - 7:45am – no pass required • 7:50 – 11:00am – teacher can call and write a pass in your Planner • 11:00am-1:00pm - Your Lunch Block–no pass required • - ETEH – must have a pass in your • planner signed by one of the librarians. (You must get the pass BEFORE 5th block bell) • 1:00 – 2:30pm – teacher can call and write a pass in your planner • 2:30 – 3:30pm – no pass required

  5. LMC Rules Students must show their ID badges and sign in and out at the circulation desk. Students must present a pass in their planner to an adult staff member. Students must respect library materials and equipment, as well as the quiet atmosphere of the LMC. Students must follow the county’s Acceptable Use Policy. Absolutely no food or drink is allowed in the LMC. Water is permitted, just not near the computers or books.

  7. Locating Books - NEW: Destiny Online Catalog To locate books in the library, use Destiny. Double click on the BLUE icon on the desktop, then click Prince George High school. Simply type in keywords to search by keyword, title, author, subject or series.

  8. You can access the Online Databases by using the LMC Web Page. If you are inside the school building, just click on the Internet Explorericon, and go to the PG County Schools Homepage, found at http://pgs.k12.va.us. Simply click on Our Schoolsand then click on Prince George High. Next, click on Librarylocated on the menu bar. The Online Databases are linked with Student Resources. Just click on the database title for access. *Remote access (outside the building) to the Online Databases requires the following username/login and password. The username or login is pghslmcfor all the databases. When a password is required, use – royals.

The Discovering Collection - 5 core subject areas including : Literature, Biography, Science, Social Studies and History Students are able to access a variety of resources that will help them conduct research, complete assignments, create presentations and more, with content and curriculum-focused tools that include: ■ Thousands of primary documents ■ Hundreds of plays and poems ■ Multimedia content, that includes video and audio clips, and thousands of flags, maps, seals and photographs ■ Thousands of topic overviews, biographies, plot summaries and pieces of literary criticism ■ Content level recommendations (Basic, Intermediate and Advanced) to help readers choose appropriate content for their abilities ■ Research Tools and Research Guide that tie information literacy skills to use of the resource ■ More than 1,700 study guide questions to promote understanding
