  4. 2010 Fall Exercise Planning • Purpose • To test the ability of the university to manage a campus-wide building evacuation while accounting for staff, faculty & students and collecting information about hazards and critical operations. • Dates • Considerations • After students are settled • Before exams start up • = October • Avoid homecoming - October 22, 23, 24 • Great California Shake Out - Thursday, October 21 • Loma Prieta Anniversary - Sunday, October 17 • Classes most busy from 10 AM - 2 PM • Least classes on Fridays

  5. Fall Exercise Planning • Decisions • To announce or not to announce • How extensive? • Evacuate • Faculty, staff accounting • Collect information on hazards • Plant issues/information? • Report to DOCs • DOCs to condense and report to EOC or EM office? • Activate BATs, SCERTs?

  6. Faculty Guidance for Emergencies • Developing materials to inform faculty of their responsibilities should an emergency occur while class is in session • Applies to any individual in charge of a class

  7. Faculty Guidance • Responsible individual in the room • Provide direction and guidance to students • Need to know and be able to execute proper response procedures

  8. Faculty Guidance • Three elements • Basic instructions for faculty • Syllabus insert and/or classroom handout • Instructions posted in the classroom

Business Continuity Planning • Kuali Ready • Things are moving! • Received contractual paperwork from Kuali • Processing invoice to receive access to the system • Steps to completion • Gain full access to Kuali tool • Revise guidance material based on actual Kuali tool • Conduct training sessions • Go for it!
