  2. Some Facts Concept: “One Nation One Test” accepted for all the IITs, NITs, IIITs and other engineering institutions. Examination Name: JEE ‘Joint Entrance Examination’ Implementation Year: Academic year 2012 - 2013

  3. New JEE Structure Two– tier: JEE (Mains): Screening for 150000 students for JEE (Advance) JEE (Advance): Performance in this paper will solely considered for admissions in the IITs.

  4. Boards % weightage Students with score in the Top 20% in respective boards will be considered for IITs

  5. Selection Process Top 20% of each board will be considered for admission into IITs: Primary criterion. Performance in JEE (Mains): Top 150000: Secondary criterion. Students screened through primary and secondary criterion will be considered for JEE (Advance) for final selection.

  6. JEE Schedule JEE (Mains): April, 2013 (Probably on 2nd Sunday) JEE (Advance): May, 2013 (Probably on 4th Sunday) Note: Further details will be declared by CBSE and IITs in the month of August 2013.

JEE Pattern JEE (Mains) Similar to present AIEEE (one paper PCM: 3hrs) JEE (Advance)Most likely similar to present IIT-JEE Two Objective Types papers of PCM and 3 hrs each), but could be one objective type paper for 3 hrs (may happen) or less likely 3 paper of subjective type for 2 hrs each for PCM.

  14. Who should repeat class 12th and how? Students who have passed 12th in 2012. Students who are not included in the top 20% in their respective boards. Improvement is allowed by various boards in the successive year only.

  15. How to prepare for New JEE? Balancing the preparation for boards and JEE together. For boards: try to score more than 80% in CBSE/ICSE and more than 75% in State Boards.

  19. Important • Admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institute Information Technology (IIITs) will based on the “mains” exam score. A final decision on the methodology of admission is pending. A meeting of representatives from the NITs is scheduled for July 4. • Admission to several deemed universities will also be on the basis of the score in the “mains” exam, which earlier took students on the basis of AIEEE scores. A minimum percentage criterion will be fixed for these too.
