What is iTunes? • iTunes is a digital media player application, used for playing and organizing digital music and video files. • The software is an interface to manage the contents on Apple's iPod media players as well as the iPhone.
Before We Begin: • Question: Do I need an Ipod or Iphone to use iTunes? • Answer: No, you can use it as a stand alone program. • Question: What do I need to create an iTunes account? • Answer: You need to provide a credit and an email address. Apple will email statements of purchases.
Lets Watch a Video From Apple • Apple has many videos on what iTunes is and how to use it. • Click to go to the Apple video archive.
Downloading iTunes • QuickTime must be installed to view the videos on the apple site. • QuickTime comes with the iTunes software bundle if QuickTime is not already installed. • Watch the downloading instructions.
Accessing iTunes store • To access the iTunes store, click on the iTunes store link on the left side of iTunes.
Access Podcasts & Audio Books • Podcasts and Videocasts are free to download! • Audio Books usually cost money to download.
Organize files into playlists • The best way to organize an iTunes music folder is to use playlists. • With playlists, you can select which songs to play and the order they play. • You can group songs into playlists by artist, type of music or any other way.
Organize files into playlists • On the File menu, choose "New Playlist," or click the "Add (+)" button. An untitled playlist with a musical note icon appears in the iTunes Source list. • Now select the untitled playlist selected, name your playlist. • Select a song in your Library and drag it to your playlist.
