The first computer you sync with your iPod will be considered your “Home” computer as far as iTunes is concerned. So choose wisely…
This is the iTunes home page This is the home button. Pick what you are looking for over here.
On this screen, I clicked on Podcasts from the list on the left, so everything on this iTunes page will be about Podcasts.
On this page, I chose movies, so this page is all about movies.
At the bottom of each of the iTunes screens is the free stuff, if there is any.
These two sections stay the same on all iTunes screens
If you plan on using your iPod on more than one computer, you’ll need to change the way you sync. If fact, the way to do this is to not sync at all. This video explains it well:How to Sync and iPod
The next screens just show the different tabs that appear when you plug your iPod into your computer. Each tab has different options.
Syncing your iPod If you are only using one computer, don’t check this box and your iPod will sync each time you plug it in. But if you want to use your iPod on more than one computer, you need to check [Manually manage music and videos].
If I’m not syncing, how do I get the music, videos, and TV shows to my iPod?
To get music, movies, and TV shows from iTunes to your iPod without syncing, simply click on the item you want to put on the iPod and drag it to the device You can drag lots of things at once by using your Shift or Control Keys on your keyboard.
This is what the music preference page looks like. Don’t check the top box if you are syncing to more than one computer.
This is what the movies preference page looks like. Don’t check the top box if you are syncing to more than one computer.
This is what the TV Shows preference page looks like. Don’t check the top box if you are syncing to more than one computer.
If you do try to sync music, movies or TV shows to an iPod that is working with more than one computer, you’ll get a message like this. Unless you really want to lose everything on your iPod, click Cancel and use the drag and drop method mentioned earlier in this PowerPoint.
For Podcasts, Photos, Contacts, and Games, you can use the Sync button at the bottom right of each screen to Sync to your iPod.
