  2. Chapter 18 • Emma, Lou, and Reverend visit Jefferson in the day room • Grant visits Jefferson alone in the day room • Discuss Christmas and “obligations” • Meets Vivian and dreams of leaving

  3. Chapter 19 • Christmas program • Reverend Ambrose insults Grant • Jefferson’s spiritual presence • Community coming together

  4. Chapter 20 • The execution date is set – two weeks after Easter • Grant and Reverend go to Pichot’s • Grant refuses to go tell Emma, walks for miles instead

  5. Independent Reading Time • For the remainder of the class you will read either ALBD or your IRB • Reading Logs 1 and 2 are due next class • If you are talking or texting during this time, you will be given a writing assignment instead.
