  2. STEP 1: Body Trouble • GROUP FORMATION AND TOPIC SELECTION: • Form a small group (2-3-4 members) or work individually. • Recall the parts of your body that you worry about. Select one troublesome body part to research for this project. • Each member will be assigned a section to develop on the wiki report. See report slide and Example report page for sections. • Submit your Body Trouble project topic, with group members names, and sections assigned for each member. • 15 points (group grade)

  3. STEP 2: Body Trouble WIKI GROUP PAGE CREATION Each group will create a new wiki page and develop a report with the following information: Page Name= Body Part to be investigated. Page Tag = Body Trouble Title: Provide a descriptive or creative title for your report. (Remember: the title includes your topic, plus what you are doing with that topic.) Members: list the group members Report Outline: (copy / paste the report outline) [10 points – group]

  4. STEP 3: Body Trouble WIKI REPORT : The group will assign each member to develop a section of the report on the group page. The sections and parts of the report are the following: Examples: each member post an example of an advertisement from the media that emphasizes or focuses on this body part and idealizes its size, shape or other qualities. [All members post one example with source information] A. Description of the Ideal [body part]: in sentences describe the features of the ideal as shown in your examples (size, shape, color, texture, etc.). [Member A answer] B. Effect of Ideal [body part]: Describe or show an example of the effect this ideal body part has on some people. [Member B answer] C. Average [body part]: give information about the average person’s body part. [Member C answer] Challenges to the Ideal [Body part]: describe or show an example of how some people challenge this idealization in the media.[Member D answer] [20 points – individual based on group wiki page History]

  5. STEP 4: Body Trouble REFLECTION: Each group member will make a personal reflection on the project topic. Each member must answer the following questions: How do idealized images of this body part affect your own body image? How has this project helped you be more critical of idealized images in the media? How can you personally challenge this media ideal? [15 points – individual based on group wiki page History]

STEP 5: Body Trouble • ORAL PRESENTATION • The group will orally present their report on a Troublesome Body Part. • Each member will present her or his Example. • Each member will present the section developed. • Each member will present her or his reflection. • [20 points – individual based on Presentation Rubric]
