College Readiness Requirements • 4 years of English • 3 years of Mathematics • 3 years of a Lab Science • 3 years of Social Studies • 2 years of Foreign Language*, Music, Art, Theatre or Vocational Education *some competitive colleges require two years of the same foreign language with a C or better for admission; most recommend foreign language. Many colleges will require foreign language in college. Some colleges may use all or some of your high school credit to fulfill the college graduation requirement.

Selecting Physical Education and Driver Education • PE Lowerclass (50111 & 50112) • Wellness (50321 & 50322) • Driver Education • Select PE 10 or Wellness 10 for the respective semester you are in driver ed • Select the driver ed course according to the enclosed form. You are required to complete the yellow driver ed enrollment form in your registration packet. Listen to the announcements for instructions on receiving paperwork for your learners permit. We will start with the oldest students first and you must register and submit all of your registration paperwork before your are eligible.

  14. Driver Education Reminders • There will only be one section 1st quarter of Driver Education Classroom. If you fail or are dropped from the class (generally because of attendance), there will not be an opportunity for you to complete Driver Education at the high school. You will need to complete driver education in the summer or privately.

  15. Driver Education Reminders (continued) • Students will be given one chance to take BTW. If you fail or are dropped for any reason, you will need to complete BTW in the summer or privately. • There is also a good chance that even some sophomores with late birthdays will have to pay to take BTW in the summer or wait until their junior year.

  16. Directions for students registering for Band • Register for “Band” (60001 & 60002) • If you want the PE Waiver for 1st quarter marching band, please select accordingly (50233). • Students who do not want to take Marching Band, must select Band (60001) and notify one of the band directors that you plan to be in Concert Band 1st quarter. • Do not request your PE Waiver if you have plans of enrolling in Classroom driver ed 1st quarter.

  17. Making up credit if you failed a required class(es) • For a first semester failure which is not listed on your registration page, select “Make-Up S1 90601” • For a second semester failure which is not listed on your registration page, select “Make-Up S2 90602” • You may select “Make-Up” only once in the same semester. We will replace the class with the actual class failed before your schedule is built. • With your alternates, please indicate if you have more than one make-up a semester.

Now select yourElectives • Classes which end in “0” meet either semester • Classes which end in “1” meet first semester • Classes which end in “2” meet second semester • Make sure you select both semesters of a year long course (i.e. TV 160, Accounting I, foreign language, band, choir).Your course planning guide will tell you whether a course meets for a semester or year long.

  19. Directions for Completing Registration • Students will be selecting courses for next year online, at home, beginning February 7. • Select at least 12 credits under “courses requested”. If you want a study hall, please select it with “courses requested”. If you do not request a study hall, you must have 14 credits under “courses requested. Students enrolling in classes pds. EB- 7 need a minimum of 12 credits and a maximum of 16. • To begin the process, you will log onto the Family Access page using either the parent or student access. Follow the steps on the next frame.

  20. Directions for Completing Registrationcontinued • 1. Go to “Courses for 2008 – 2009 “ (left side of column) • 2. Click “Update Request” (Middle of Page) • 3. Highlight the course (Follow your Registration Worksheet for choices) • 4. Click on “Add Course” • 5. After all courses have been selected, go to “selected” tab to verify choices. • 6. Print this page • 7. Attach this to your registration sheet, which must be signed by a parent • 8. Log out

  22. Due Dates Your yellow registration form and driver education form must be returned to the Guidance Office on or before February 20, 2008 You must complete your online registration in your Skyward account on or before February 20, 2008

  23. Help with online registration • A counselor will be available in the high school library on February 14 from 7:45 am until 3:15 pm. • You must secure a permit from your study hall teacher before coming to the library. • If you do not have a study hall, please come in before or after school.

  24. Final Directions • Please do not request your “alternates” in online registration. Write them on the last page of your blue registration page. • Attach a copy of your course requests to your yellow page

  25. Signature Page • Your yellow registration page must have your signature and a parent signature. • Make sure you return your Driver Education Signup form with your registration papers.
