  1. Themes for discussion: How is the Net facilitating or strengthening the role of political parties in: reflecting and transmitting policy preferences? mobilizing political participation?

  2. Quotation analysis Straw poll: reading choice? Make sure your quotation includes the name of the author/article, and the page number.

  3. In groups: (1) Read each quotation. it may help if you first review quotes from Norris, then review quotes from Cross 2. Review each quotation again, this time discussing the summaries, too. Questions to consider:- do you agree with the summary provided? do you agree on the quotation’s relationship to that reading?- what does the quotation suggest about the Net’s impact on the role of parties in mobilizing participation or transmitting preferences?

  4. In groups: (1I) As a group, choose one of your quotations to bring forward to the full class discussion. This quotation could be one that: presents a point that you think is particularly important you had difficulty interpreting provoked disagreement over its meaning provoked discussion about an issue
