  1. Blood and Chocolate By: Annette Curtis Klause

  2. Summary After the fire that had killed Vivian’s father, her family had moved to Maryland. Ever since the Esme, Vivian’s mom, and Astrid, Vivian’s aunt had fought over 21 year old Gabriel. One day, she read a poem written by Aiden Teague, the school newspaper producer, and was overwhelmed. They met at lunch and liked each other right away. Vivian knew that her mom wouldn’t approve of her going out with a human because she was loup-garoux, part human part wolf. Her mom didn’t find out about Aiden until he came to pick her up for the concert. Vivian received her first kiss there. Aiden informed her of the family cookout and invited her to come. She dressed perfectly as to impress his parents, but Mrs.Teague had the look of disapproval at the first sight of her. The dinner was very quiet, so Vivian left early.

  3. Summary (cont.) On the day of Vivian’s birthday, Aiden was on vacation. Everyone was there, including Gabriel. She went to sleep early so that she could get away from her bothersome brothers a.k.a. the Five and Gabriel. Aiden was going to give her a ride to the fireworks show the next night. On the way there, Aiden presented Vivian with a silver pentagram as her birthday gift. After the show, they stopped by the river and hung out. Soon a pack of wolves consisting of the Five and Astrid ran through the woods. Vivian hurried Aiden home, afraid that he might get killed. Vivian told Gabriel about Astrid leading the pack and he declared a fight to see who the real leaders were. Gabriel quickly took out the other fighters. Then for the ladies fight, Esme was strangled by Astrid immediately.

  4. Summary (cont.) Vivian jumped in the fight to save her mom, and knocked out Astrid. Esme was unconscious, so Vivian was named second leader. The two leaders were supposed to get married. Vivian begged and sulked, but nothing could change her relationship with Gabriel. She tried killing herself the next night, but Gabriel found her drenched in gas and brought her home. One night, Gabriel entered Vivian’s room. She tried to force him out, but his soft expression stopped her. Gabriel started to kiss her intensely. How could she have mistaken Aiden’s kiss for his?
