Creating Note Cards Follow these guidelines: • Place each main point at the top of a card Start with your Introduction and work from that point forward
Next… • Write your supporting ideas on the lines below the main idea • Use key words andphrasesto help you remember details
Don’t forget to…. • Highlight ideas you want to emphasize • Give yourself delivery cues and directions like • Pause at this point • Look Up! • Slow down! • Show graphic
And…. • Number each card
Your Note Cards Should…. • Keep you organized and on track. No winging it! • Be easy to read. You may have to glance back to them frequently.
Your Note Cards Should Not… • Have notes written on the back. That makes it too easy to get lost or confused during your speech. • Have every word of your story written out.
Questions to Ask Yourself • Who is my audience? • Am I providing them with clear wording? • Am I answering any questions the audience may have about my story?
When Giving Your Speech… • Stand up straight: No leaning! • Spit out gum • Make eye contact • Project your voice • Plant your feet
