  1. Ifyouwereinvolvedinanaccident involvingUberorLyft,youshouldcallaUber&rideshareaccident lawyer. DealingwithUberorLyftcanbechallenging–evenforalawyerlet aloneanaccidentvictimrepresentinghimorherself. Ingeneral,rideshareisagreatidea.Ithasprovidedareasonably pricedmeansforpeopletogetaroundChicagoandothercities. Statisticsalsotendtosupporttheideathatridesharereducesthe numberofDUIaccidentsasinebriateddrivershaveanefficient alternativetodrivinghomefromabarorrestaurant.Somestudies haveshownthatUberhascausedadramaticreductioninthenumber ofDUIrelateddeaths. However,Ubercomeswithrisksaswell.Often,UberandLyftdrivers donothavealotofdrivingexperience.Ispeakfrompersonal experiencewhenIsaythatI’vehadmorethanoneUberdriverwho didn’thaveacluewhathewasdoingorwherehewasgoing.I’ve

  2. seenotherstalkingontheirphoneswhiledrivingorplayingwiththe Uberappwhentheyshouldbewatchingtheroad.Manycitieslike Chicagohaveenactedrideshareordinancestoassertsomeminimum requirementsontherideshareindustry.Chicagoexertssignificant controloverthetaxiindustryaswell. Ourofficehasrepresentedvictimsinseveral differentUber&rideshareaccidents,including: OurclientwasdrivingforUberwhenshewashitbehindinPark Ridge,Illinoistherebycausinghertoslamintothecarinfrontofher. Shesufferedaconcussionandwhiplashinjuries.Shealsodeveloped fibromyalgiaimmediatelyafterthecollisionandalsosufferedfrom significantPTSDthatrequiredpsychologicalcounseling. AnotherclientwasapassengerinthebackofanUber.TheUber driverranaredlightandsmashedintoacarinanintersection.The collisionleftourclientwithsignificantbackinjuries.Ourclient’s statementaboutfaultresultedinUber’sinsurancecompanyaccepting 100%responsibilityfortheaccident. We’vereceivedcountlessothercallsfromvictimsofrideshare accidents,manywithminorinjurieswhoproceededtorepresent themselvesinfilingaclaimwithJamesRiverInsurance–the insurancecompanyUberuses(forthecollisionsI’vehandledatleast).
