Swachh Bharat Mission (G)- Achievements • Rural Gujarat has been declared ODF on 2nd October 2017 by The Hon’ble President of India • Sanitation Coverage ( As per BLS-2012) : 100% (33.04 Lakh IHHLs) Way Forwards Solid Liquid Waste Management ODF Sustainability Community Toilets Operation & Maintenance IHHL facility for remaining H/Hs

ODF SCENARIO OF GUJARAT Attained ODF status on 2nd October 2017 • High risk of OD due to migration of labour during crop cutting season, water scarce areas & disaster prone areas • Gujarat achieved ODF status on 2nd October 2017, 100% rural families (as per BLS 2012) have access to toilets and over 95% are using it regularly • Resurvey has been done. Around 5.5 lakhs toilets out of BLS across the State are being constructed using funds from CSR , MGNREGA, 14FC • Behaviour change communication campaign initiated, household level monitoring on toilet use and hand washing is included • External verification of ODF done through QCI at Taluka level, reported gaps were addressed by DRDAs and compliance reports submitted • There is a need for training of Nigranicommittees to strengthen the social governance • Engagement of KRCs for capacity building of stakeholders is planned • NRLM resources being mobilized for training and awareness of women SHGs for ODF+ Challenges

Current BCC/IEC Status IEC Interventions Dissemination of key messages on improved WASH practices GPs covered with key IEC messages on stopping OD, use toilets in all villages, institutions Increased outreach through school children School children active engagement public rallies, nigrani committees, motivation of children by video screening, innovative games, art and craft activities • Mass mobilization through SwachhtaRath, SBM Exhibition and Tableau and Song and Drama during mega events in districts SwachhtaRath with effective IEC material, audio and video screen reached people in over 4000 villages twice a year
