Attendance Requirements Graduation Ceremony Participation Requirement LMHS understands that its students are young adults who recognize the importance of self-managed behavior. It is in this frame of reference that the expectations of daily attendance required for participation in graduation is set forth. A graduation ceremony is an honor and a privilege—not a right. To participate in the Lake Minneola High School graduation ceremony a student must be in average daily attendance 90% of the defined school year of 180 days. The Graduation Ceremony Participation Requirement is in effect beginning the 2018-2019 school year. Each grade level must abide by the following to be eligible to participate in the Graduation Ceremony. Current 12th Grade: 12th grade year 90% attendance per year required (must be in attendance a minimum of 162 school days). Current 11th Grade: 11th and 12th grade years must have 90% attendance per year for both years (must be in attendance a minimum of 162 school days per year). Current 10th Grade: 10th, 11th, and 12th grade years must have 90% attendance per year for all three years (must be in attendance a minimum of 162 school days per year). Current 9th Grade: 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade years must have 90% attendance per year for all four years (must be in attendance a minimum of 162 school days per year). An absence is defined as missing four or more class periods in a single school day. • *Both unexcused and excused absences *Neither testing days nor fieldtrips count as absences for students Attendance Committee: An Attendance Committee will preside over appeals. Students who appeal on medical conditions must provide the committee with proper doctor documentation.
