4. Maintaining Accurate Records In a nutshell… Effective teachers maintain a complete, accurate, and timely grade book. Effective teachers maintain records of student growth or lack of it, using this data to adapt instructional practice. Domain 4

5. Communicating with Families In a nutshell… Effective teachers keep families informed of student grades, events in a class, procedures, and grading systems. Effective teachers keep parents informed about the social and academic progress of their children. Effective teachers communicate student celebrations and concerns. Domain 4

6. Contributing to the School and District In a nutshell… Effective teachers openly and professionally communicate with other educators to improve the systems within the school, department, academic team, and PLC. Effective teachers promote and may participate in academic and non-academic building events. Domain 4

7. Growing and Developing Professionally In a nutshell… Effective teachers participate in professional development (district, building, and PLC) to improve professional knowledge and content instruction. Effective teachers help colleagues improve instructional practice and planning. Domain 4

8. Showing Professionalism In a nutshell… Highly professional teachers care deeply for the well being of their students and step in on their behalf when needed. Effective educators are advocates for their students, particularly those who are underserved. Effective educators maintain an open mind and are willing to attempt new approaches to old problems.
