  2. SAS, SAS/EG • 50 copies are available for faculty use • For each copy purchased, a faculty member can get a free copy (to be installed on a student PC) • The cost is $200 per copy per year (Starting Aug. 09) • To obtain a copy of SAS please email • assist@mcsr.olemiss.edu • ccsam@olemiss.edu

  3. Installation of SAS/EG • SAS/EG comes in separate CDs • SAS/EG should be installed after SAS is installed and tested • To get the CDs for SAS/EG, please contact: • assist@olemiss.edu

  5. General Information • This seminar covers SAS and the SAS Enterprise Guide (EG) • SPSS, SAS, and Mathematica are available in Weir Student Lab, Weir 107, and several other labs around campus • SAS may be started with or without EG • We will look at a few short examples of SAS & SAS/EG

  6. General Information • IT staff will assist users to access these packages. We also assist users to find the proper procedure to analyze their data. If you need assistance please send an email to: • assist@mcsr.olemiss.edu • ccsam@olemiss.edu

  7. Today’s Topics • Enterprise Guide (EG) is a Front-End Program for SAS • Available to those who have SAS • UM SAS users may obtain a free copy of EG • While running EG, SAS will run in the background • EG builds tasks, while SAS runs them

  8. Today’s Topics • EG accepts various formats, e.g. *.xls • Programming is similar to “Point and Click” and “Drag and Drop” • SAS may be launched with or without EG • Access to much of SAS procs • Creating and running a few examples

Running Enterprise Guide 4 • Download graph_eg.xls to your desktop • Click Start->Program->SAS->Enterprise Guide 4 • Close the small window that appears • Choose File->open-> data> Local Computer • Choose your input file (e.g. graph_eg.xls), then click open • Open your data by: • clicking sheet1->open, then choose the first option • Your input data appears

  12. Running Enterprise Guide 4 (Cont.) • From the File menu choose describe-> summary statistics • To run proc describe move the first variable to the right and click “run” • Choose another proc and run it • Close all windows and close SAS/EG

Running Enterprise Guide 4 (Cont.) • Download dwashchith.xls to your desktop • Launch SAS/EG • File->open->data->local computer>desktop-> dwashchith.xls • Choose Analyze->ANOVA-> Nonparametric one-way • Choose PosMdS as your independent variable • Choose Collabl as your dependent variable • Click run

  14. Running Enterprise Guide 4 (Cont.) • Close all the windows • Open SAS Enterprise Guide • Open dwashchith.xls • Find ANOVA under analyze and perform one way ANOVA
