Project goals • To enhance institutional research as basis for strategic planning and organizational decision making • To secure foreign expert advice and training related to strategic management • To promote concepts ofquality culture and quality assurance • To support the professionalization of M & G by introducing staff development programs • To facilitate international networking through regional and EU projects in HED Vlasta Vizek Vidović November 2003

Launching the Project • May 2002 - project proposal submitted to the UNESCO • October 2002-project approved by UNESCO CEPES • February 2003 -agreement signed between UNESCO and University of Zagreb • July 2003 - project approved by University of Zagreb Senate Vlasta Vizek Vidović November 2003

The First Six Months • Securing premises and e – equipment • Starting referal documentation center and library • Creation of UNESCO Chair web site • Organizing workshops in Zagreb and Dubrovnik: • The role of the Office of External Affairsat UGA, Athens, Georgia • Enrolment, programs and degrees at MSEM, Northridge, California • Internalization in higher education, NUFFIC, Netherlands Vlasta Vizek Vidović November 2003

The First Six Months (cont) • Co-publishing Academic newsletter of international cooperation • Cooperating with TEMPUS QUASYS JEP-project at University of Zagreb • Visiting kindred Chairs in Barcelona, Spain and Cluj, Romania • Preparing the Croatian version of the materials of UNESCO-CEPES program on Management and Governance in HED Vlasta Vizek Vidović November 2003
