Tool Overview 1/4 • InnoTube is an innovative video-based, YouTube-like, Channel and Profile-related Connection Game. • The Channel is a closed environment where profiled users can watch / load their videos (i.e. internal videos – that can be also recorded and uploaded on the fly) or other ones, coming form other sources (e.g. YouTube). • The Tool allows to visualise 3 kind of videos (Innovation Awareness, Ideas and Innovators) and to navigate / explore the Network represented by the users, the videos and the related tags and the connections (e.g. ‘has seen’, ‘knows’, ‘has submitted’, ‘is inspired by’, ‘is a version of’) among them via the embedded Network Visualisation and Navigation Tool, NVNT. • Idea’s evolution overtime can be monitored by the means of the so-called “Time-Machine”. • In addition, in the InnoTube Game a Connection Agent takes care of stimulating users' activities by matching users and ideas profiles and by providing users with suggestions on which video to select. • In the game, 2 players are presented with the same video they view in parallel and the goal of the game is to “match” their comments in order to (both) win. • Once the players have ended their game they are offered to know each other since they played anonymously. If they accept they will be connected and a new (‘knows’) link will be set and appear in the NVNT. • Other agents recommend connections based on similarity (according to video viewing styles and profiles matching) between the users.

Tool Overview 4/4 • A user is interested in a specific innovation-related topic (e.g. “development of a novel portable music device”) • The user puts this info in own InnoTube profile • The InnoTube connection agents will be activated and generate suggestions for relevant InnoTube community members and videos to be contacted and seen • In case none of the people the user knows are directly knowledgeable about IEOs related to the topic of interest, the user could use the network visualization features to display relationship networks and identify the “shortest path” to a relevant expert • The user can see / post comments on videos, and find out who’s most similar to her/him, or to another user too • The user can decide to play the game against a player and the connection agents will choose both the best opponent and the best video to see in order to have the opportunity to connect to the game mate eventually, or against the machine only in order to gain further inspiration on the topic only • As a critical mass in terms of ideas (i.e. videos) and participants is needed, deployment of InnoTube is valuable in large organisations • As well as communities of distributed people/innovators (e.g. Infonomia in Spain, other Living Labs) • Key: IEO = Innovation Experience Opportunity
