  3. Energy Goal Energy efficiency in Montpelier is maximized. Montpelier’s energy is generated by renewable resources of local origin. The delivery of energy is structured to encourage efficient use and affordability.

  4. Energy Targets • The City of Montpelier establishes a biomass district energy CHP (combined heat and power) facility in downtown to serve downtown residents, municipal buildings, and the capitol complex.

  5. Energy Targets, con’t • By 2015, 1,000 Montpelier homes will be weatherized and switch to a carbon neutral fuel source.

  9. Clean Energy Assessment District • $3 million fund for renewables and energy efficiency measures outside of the area served by the plant • Half for efficiency – 100 properties with approximately 20% savings • Half for renewables – 50 renewable facilities displacing 25% of energy demand

  10. PACE in Vermont • Lowers energy costs for homes and businesses • Affordable financing • Municipal Assessment District • Statewide Legislation to establish loan loss reserve fund & Junior Liens

  11. PACE in Montpelier • $ 8M DOE grant for District Energy and Clean Energy Assessment Districts • Loan loss reserve with DOE grant • Finance efficiency, renewables, and hook up costs to district energy system • Need senior lien for district energy bills
