ATLAS FCPPL Projects session Introduction Shan JIN (IHEP) / Emmanuel MONNIER (CPPM)

This session introduction discusses the discovery of the Higgs boson in the H→γγ, H→ZZ→4l, and H→WW→2l2ν channels. It also covers the analysis of LHC-Run1 data from 2011 to 2012 and the preparation for Run 2 in 2014. The FCPPL cooperation has played a significant role in Higgs, Susy, and SM analyses.

  2. a 4/7/12 Higgs boson discovered ! H→γγ, H→ZZ→4l, H→WW→2l2ν Now “LHC-Run1” data analyzed: 2011~5fb-1@7Tev Outstanding 2012~20fb-1@8Tev LHC ! 8/10/13

  3. 23fb-1,8TeV 6fb-1,7TeV 0.05fb-1,7TeV 2013: Run 1 legacy analyses and 2014 Run 2 preparation ! E. Monnier - FCPPL2013

  4. Candidate H → gg, mgg=126.6 GeV Candidate H → 4e, meeee=124.6 GeV E. Monnier - FCPPL2013

  5. mH=126.8±0.2stat±0.7sys GeV Many new and consolidated « run 1» data in Higgs, Susy, SM analysis in which FCPPL cooperation has strongly contributed. See today’s talks as well as winter conference slides and related conf note for details of ATLAS new results. E. Monnier - FCPPL2013

  6. ACC(IHEP/NJU/SDU/USTC)-IN2P3(CPPM/LAL/LPNHE/LPSC) • Very strong cooperation program between the Atlas Chinese Cluster and CPPM, LAL, LPNHE, LPSC since several years: • Higgs, Susy studies (through γ γ, Z γ, WW final states and also lepton/jet/bjet/top final states) (see Y. Li, L. Shan, K. Liu, X. Zhuang, M. Wu… talks) • Di-boson studies (see J. Gao talk) • Top properties (2 co-PhD thesis defended end of 2013) • Performance studies (E/gamma, B tag, Trigger, Calorimeter) (see K. Liu talk) • Silicon detector R&D (see J. Liu talk in R&D session) • Numerous presentation in Atlas meetings, conferences as well as in internal, public/conf notes and publications. • Many senior physicists visits (France and China) with continuous cooperation work between ACC physicist and IN2P3 physicists • Several co-PhD thesis defended recently and more to come in 2014: B. Li, L. Chen, L. Yao, … E. Monnier - FCPPL2013

  7. ATLAS ACC-IN2P3 heavily involved in data analyses in 2013-2014 • Co-PhD : • L. Yao CSC funded (LPNHE/IHEP) (10/2013) • B. Li CSC funded (CPPM/SDU) (12/2013) • L. Chen CSC Cai Yuanpei (CPPM/SDU) (12/2013) • X. Sun CSC funded (started 09/10) (LPSC/SDU) • K. Liu USTC/FCPPL funded (started 09/11)(LPNHE/USTC) • J. Gao USTC/FCPPL/Eiffel funded (started 09/12)(CPPM/USTC) • Y. Li CSC funded (started 09/12) (LAL/Nanjing U.) • M. Wu CSC funded (started 09/12) (LPSC)… • Strong SLHC Silicon detector R&D cooperation program ongoing, with weekly meetings, scientists visits, J. Liu (SDU), co-phd in preparation and senior visits. • Need to strengthen manpower and technical involvement for strong R&D. E. Monnier - FCPPL2013
