  2. Short – Bajo Tall - Alto *Just like with personality descriptions, adjectives in Spanish must match the gender of the noun. Ex. El chicoes alto. Ella esbaja.

  3. Heavy – Gordo Thin - Delgado *Adjectives should also match the “number” of the noun – singular or plural. Ex. Los chicosgordos.

  4. Pretty – Bonito, Lindo Handsome – Guapo Ugly - Feo

  5. Old – Viejo Young - Jóven

  6. Black hair - Pelo negro Brown hair - Pelomoreno(brunette) *To talk about hair color and eye color, use the verb “tener.” Yotengopelomoreno. I have brown hair. Ella tienepelo negro. She has black hair.

  7. Blonde - Rubio Redhead - Pelirrojo *With redhead and blonde, you use the verb “ser.” Yosoyrubia. I am blonde. (female) Yosoypelirrojo. I am redheaded. (male) Lindsay Lohanespelirroja. Lindsay Lohan is redheaded.

  9. Grammar Focus… • In Spanish, note that the ADJECTIVE always comes AFTER the noun. • PELO LARGO • Noun (Hair) Adjective (long) • El chicoguapole gustabailar.

  10. Grammar Focus… • As we learned with personality, the noun and verb also have to agree in gender. • Remember, that doesn’t always mean the gender of the PERSON. It’s the gender of the NOUN. • Rhiannatiene PELO CORTO Noun (masc.) Adjective (masc.) Ella esunachicabonita.

  11. Grammar Focus… • The NOUN and ADJECTIVE also must agree in number. That means if the noun is plural, the adjective must be too. • Rhiannatieneojos cafes. Noun (plural) Adjective (plural)

  12. Bald- Calvo *Always use the verb “ser”! Élescalvo. Dr. Phil escalvo.

  13. Hazel eyes - Ojos castañosGreen eyes - Ojos verdes Tienesojoscastaños? Do you have hazel eyes? Tengoojosverdes. I have green eyes.

  14. Brown eyes - Ojos cafes Blue eyes - Ojos azules Yotengoojos cafes. I have brown eyes. Éltieneojosazules. He has blue eyes.

  15. La cara – Face *Unacarabonita – A pretty face. *Ella tieneunacarabonita – She has a pretty face.

  23. Practice describing yourself! • Yo soy baja y delgada. Yo soy joven. Yotengopelo largo y moreno y ojos cafes.

  24. Describe a friend! • Rachel esalta y delgada. Ella esjoven. Ella tienepelo largo y moreno. Rachel tieneojos cafes.
