  22. 2012 GAO Actions Update Action 1) Steering Committee to: Develop a plan with timeframe to facilitate the implementation of OMB’s portfolio management guidance • Target Date: FY 2014, Q2 – ON TARGET • Responsible Officials: Adrian Gardner, DHS, FEMA; Ivan DeLoatch, FGDC OS STATUS: • Final Draft Implementation Plan sent to Steering Committee on 2/5 for approval vote– due today. • Final version with approval date and any other minor changes will be finalized after vote. Action 2) Steering Committee to: Develop and implement guidance and timeframe for identifying planned geospatial investments using the Geospatial Platform (Marketplace) • Target Date: FY 2013, Q4 - COMPLETE • Responsible Officials: Jerry Johnston, DOI STATUS: • Version 1 of Marketplace enables agencies to flag records as “planned” for search, discovery and collaboration • Additional functionality, requirements, and alignment of agency processes recognized as needed next steps • Federal policy developed by interagency group • Released 9/25/13 with follow-up email 1/24/14 • Includes template that can be used to adapt the policy to meet specific agency needs • Closure package sent to GAO

Action 3) Steering Committee to: Create and update a strategic plan with timeframe and implement the plan within the established time frame • Target Date: FY 2014, Q2, COMPLETE - December 2013 • Responsible Officials: Dan Cotter, DHS; Ivan DeLoatch FGDC OS STATUS: • SC and NGAC endorsed the plan in mid-December • Implementation planning beginning • Closure package to GAO in final review Further details provided later in today’s meeting.

  25. 2014 GAO Engagement • New (2nd) engagement - GAO letter received January 6, 2014 • Evaluation related to geospatial data • Study expected to focus on: • Implementation of the previous recommendations from GAO • Address data • Imagery data • An entrance conference with GAO was held 2/5/14 • FGDC met with GAO on 3/6/14 to respond to additional questions • GAO intends to analyze the Data.gov/GeoPlatform.gov catalog metadata holdings again, the OGC compliant catalog search service URL recently developed for the catalog is being provided • GAO requested the results of the analysis of NGDA datasets registered in the catalog • GAO is also engaging with other agencies • Additional information about the scope of the study and how the GAO team plans to execute the engagement is being developed by GAO • GAO stated its approach should be defined by April 2014 Contact: Ivan DeLoatch, FGDC OS, ideloatch@fgdc.gov Read ahead: none

HIFLD/FGDC Alignment Proposal • As presented at the September 2013 CG meeting, a proposal to align HIFLD activities with the FGDC structure and activities was developed. • The Steering Committee and ExCom have each been briefed on this proposal. • A draft charter for the proposed HIFLD Subcommittee was developed (see my.usgs.gov for the document). • The ExComrecommended formalizing the charter. • The Steering Committee (SC) will be informed in today’s meeting of that recommendation and asked for their agreement to move forward. • CG and then SC will vote on the charter if SC recommends moving forward. • CG vote likely to be in the next few weeks.
