Background This presentation contains information that supplements a set of read-aheads on the topics covered in the CG meeting and will be used as a walk-though of all the topics at the CG meeting. Use this presentation before reviewing the read-aheads in order to gain context. Materials will not be presented in full at the meeting, it is the responsibility of the attendees to review the material prior to the meeting, as per CG standard operating procedures.

Monthly Decisions Summary • Coordination Group • CG liaison to ExCom will be the Co-Chair • Steering Committee • CG Charter was approved • Executive Committee • ExCom and CG liaisons will be selected to attend/present at the beginning of each other’s meetings • CG voting membership will be expanded to more than one per Department, limited to ‘2nd’ tier agencies, at the discretion of each Department’s SOAGI • ExCom will hold 2-hour joint meetings quarterly with the CG • SAOGIs will be invited to attend ExCom meetings until the Steering Committee reactivates. National Geospatial Forum Proposal in refinement Timeframe – November 10, 2009 Goal Engage diverse public sector constituents, beneficiaries, and stakeholders to explore implementation of “place-based policy planning and programming” innovations and best practices Refresh, communicate, and demonstrate FGDC brand as relevant, demonstrating national geospatial thought leadership Target Audience - Federal and non-federal participants Contact: Roxanne Lamb, rhlamb@fgdc.gov Read ahead: none

National Geospatial Forum Purpose - Utilize social networking and technology tools to: Conduct a series of four forums Federal Government Geospatial Program Executives State, local, and tribal representatives General public communities of interest and academic constituencies Industry, non-profits and lobbying stakeholders Engage in discussion about developing a National implementation place-based policy Build awareness of and create access to existing Federal geospatial assets Obtain broad-based input to a National geospatial policy defining the value of “place-based government products and services Develop sustainable space for future interactions concerning the effectiveness of place-based policies
