Committees’ Decisions Summary Executive Committee – 5/22/14 Meeting • Kevin Gallagher and Tim Trainor will Co-Chair the NSDI Awareness objective on the NSDI Strategic Plan action plan. • Angela Smith volunteered GSA to work with another agency as a Co-Chair on the Cloud Computing objective of the NSDI Strategic Plan. Committees’ Decisions Summary Steering Committee – 4/3/14 Meeting • A letter is being drafted from the FGDC Chairs to the agencies on the implementation of the National Geospatial Data Asset Management Plan, as recommended during the SC meeting. • OMB has identified a government contact who will work with the NGAC subcommittee on the issue of Geospatial Privacy. Committees’ Decisions Summary Coordination Group Vote on the National Boundaries Group (NBG) Charter – Closed on May 27 • Thanks to CG members who voted. • There were 16 affirmative votes, 0 negative votes, and 19 non-responses (counted as affirmative, per vote ballot sent out on May 9). • The NBG Charter was endorsed by the CG.   22. 2012 GAO Actions Update • June 5 meeting with GAO, USGS, NOAA, Census • GAO clarified the status of these actions and the additional steps/information they are looking for to close the recommendations • GAO recommendations have a 4-year time limit • Action 1) Steering Committee to: Develop a plan with timeframe to facilitate the implementation of OMB’s portfolio management guidance • NGDA Management Plan – GAO will be looking for evidence of implementation • Action 2) Steering Committee to: Develop and implement guidance and timeframe for identifying planned geospatial investments using the Geospatial Platform (Marketplace) • This action is closed.   23. 2014 GAO Engagement • New (2nd) engagement - GAO letter received January 6, 2014 • Issues under review/Objective(s)/Key questions(s): • Determine the implementation status of prior recommendations. • Describe the types of geospatial data that selected federal agencies and States are acquiring. NOTE: Looking for use cases and maps to show the pervasive use of geospatial data across the government. • Determine the extent to which selected federal agencies and States invest in potentially duplicative geospatial data. NOE: Focused primarily on address and imagery data. (MD, OH, SC, MT, WA) • GAO determined its approach to this engagement in April 2014, this is an internal plan, not a document they provide to inform agencies. • USGS, NOAA, Census are responding to questions on data use of NGDA themes, plus addresses, including how they “get” the data and associated costs. • GAO anticipates a draft report in the December timeframe.   36. NSDI Plan – Next Steps • Revised action plans will be distributed to the Steering Committee, Coordination Group, and NGAC by June 16. The plans will be discussed at the June 24-25 NGAC meeting and June 26 Steering Committee meeting. • FGDC plans to hold an NSDI Leaders Forum meeting in July/August to brief the leaders of key geospatial organizations on the implementation process. • FY 14 status reports on the NSDI action plans will be due by September 30 • Revisions to FY 15 targets will be due by October 31. Call for Nominations – CG Co-Chair • No nominations have been received after 5 months. • Call for self nominations for new Co-Chair: • Deadline was extended to June 9. • Steering Committee members will now be asked to provide nominations of candidates from their agencies. • An email will be going out from the FGDC Chair. • SAOGIs must submit a statement of support for each nomination – resource commitment. • Nominations will be compiled and put out to the CG for a blind vote via email. • ~ 4 to 5 weeks of commitment annually.
