Facts • CenturyLink gave CTS notice that they are sun-setting their Frame Relay and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) services. • Frontier Communications gave CTS notice that they will not accept any new requests for these types of circuit connections. • These services are typically used by CTS to provide connectivity of customer field offices to the MultiProtocol Label Switched (MPLS) network. • These circuit types and the technology used is old and has declined in recent years with the advances of other technologies such as Ethernet.

  3. Impacts • Existing circuits can remain until CTS contracts expire (June 30, 2014) • Approximately number of circuits involved: • 218 Frame Relay circuits • 6 ATM circuits • 30 DSL circuits • Circuits must be replaced with a different technology, such as Ethernet

  4. Next steps • CTS is reviewing the usage of these circuit types and is working to develop alternatives for each customer. • Each customer agency will be contacted by CTS to review and discuss options, by February 18, 2014. • Plans will be developed with each customer. Questions?
