GENERAL TIPS AND ADVICE • Read the rules or guidelines • Address selection criteria and identified areas of interest of funding body • Introduce topic and educate assessor, don’t assume they are an expert in the field • Follow the instructions eg page limits • Use highly appropriate referencing • Always support statements with facts or refs

  7. CONTRACT RESEARCH • Researcher or client initiated project • Publication rights, outcomes, payment schedule and project ownership determined in contract • No grant assessment “lag” time • Targeted to client needs • Findings beneficial in future research • Start small, set realistic plans, budgets, timeframes

  8. Australian Research Council Linkage Project Grants • 2 Rounds per year: RO deadline 19 April, 6Nov • $20K to $500K per annum, 1-5 yrs • Partner Organisation (PO) required • Industry, government, community group • Collaborative project with joint benefits and outcomes transferred into practice via PO • Cash and in-kind contribution of PO must match $ requested from ARC (cash 20%)
