  3. I.Stance Legs • Legs shoulder length apart/ a good balanced position • Square to the plate *can start open, eventually you will end up squared

  4. I.Stance Hands • Grip the bat in fingertips • Line up door knocking knuckles

  5. I.Stance Bat • Start on your shoulder and lift • Should have and upside down V (^)

  6. II.Phase 1 Loading and stride • Most important phase- doing all your preparation • Want to have loaded and stride by the time a pitch is released

  7. Loading “do” More legs than hands Your negative move so that you can move forward Keep your hands where they started Body should stay square to plate Good Drill= walk up drill Loading “don’t” Never separate your hands from body Don’t twist to get power II.Phase 1

  8. Stride “do” Toe touch Toe facing home plate Weight should be 50/50 after stride Head should be in same spot Stride “don’t” Toe shouldn’t face the pitcher Don’t come up off your back foot to soon II.Phase 1

  9. III.Phase 2 • Hands are higher than ball when you make contact • Palm up/palm down • Keep your hands inside pitch/keep strong angle • Naturally will start to turn and come up on your back foot *don’t want to rotate before contact=hooking *don’t separate hands from body=loose power • Good exstension comes from swinging through a ball • Good drill=double tee

  10. IV. Phase 3 Follow Through • All weight should be forward…come up off back toe *feel this from walk up drill • Follow through on top of shoulder/on shoulder
