Wireless Networking, E-Attendance, E-Voting • At the close of the September 2002 Interim session the 802.11/.15 WGs approved to move forward • A) Upgrade the Wireless Network hardware (servers) • B) Engage with a 3rd party software applications developer to design, develop and maintain • Electronic attendance application • Electronic real time update of member database • Electronic voting system for letter ballots • Applied to ALL working groups over time • Phase 1: Initially start with 802.11/.15 Petrick, IceFyre -Godfrey Intersil

Wireless Networking, E-Attendance, E-Voting • Current Plan • E-Attendance, Member Data base will be Web-Based. • Between session: Application will be hosted on IEEE server farm Grouper.IEEE.org • During sessions: Application will be resident on local on-site server network • This allows each member to update contact information real time • Keep track of membership voting status • Network support and administration during sessions Petrick, IceFyre -Godfrey Intersil

Wireless Networking, E-Attendance, E-Voting • Current status • IBM server purchased and on-site at this session • At this meeting, the new server is dedicated to the Attendance-book function. • Over time, we will migrate other applications to the new server. • The new server can support an additional CPU as requirements grow. • Wireless network 802.11a and 802.11b • Call for developers • Qualifications: Developed similar Web-based applications • Identified: Ideal Corporation, Orlando Florida • Develop Linux – Java based application • Others? • Estimates of NRE’s • Full custom development $40-$60K (for all working groups) • Goal to keep NREs to $20K Petrick, IceFyre -Godfrey Intersil
