Background • DON Cross-Functional Team was created to: • Describe the current state of efforts to define training, certification, and career development approaches related to data career field • Establish one unified Navy approach to develop the capability • ASN RDA is the lead • There are 4 sub-tasks: • Data Skills/Capabilities • Recruiting and Retention • Workforce Development • Community Development • OCMO deliverables to date: • Developed the DON Data Science Flyer for recruiters • Created DON Data Career website outline and layout

Recruiting & Retention • OCMO, being at Secretariat level, took responsibility to develop a DON Data Career page on the OCMO website • Goal is to provide a central hub for DON Data Career related information • Why do we need DON Data Career website? • Currently, there is no DON Data Career site • Limited space in the recruitment flyer • Allow regular updates Seeking approval to proceed with the DON Data Career website

DON Data Career Website WorkloadDivided into 3 sections Phase 2 Ongoing Maintenance Phase 1 Work with DONHR website POC to include Data career field on their home page Provide details for the following tabs Check for any external link issues Update the content of the website periodically based on the latest information available Assess feedback received Add the following tabs in the DON Data Career Page on OCMO Site • About • Impact of data in the DON • Employment • Career Paths (Job titles & agencies for each career field) About Employment Calendar (Finding the HR personnel responsible for updating the calendar on a regular basis) Calendar Benefits Resources Resources Contact Timeline: Effort: Go Live Phase 1 Phase 2 Maintenance

Additionally, the OCMO will ensure these improvements are sustained by integrating data and analytics capabilities with performance governance, end-to-end processes, business information systems, and improved human capital management. OCMO’s long-term goals include: • Improving data quality, standards, visibility, access, and security; • Enhancing information integration through expanded interoperability, integration, and reuse; • Establishing and continuously improving capabilities to perform analysis to enable the speed and effectiveness of decision-making; • Building a skilled data workforce; and • Governing for outcomes by institutionalizing the management of data and analytics products.
