  2. Purpose • Inclusive Physical Education for young disabled people • Improved workforce competence and confidence • A professional development opportunity

  3. Audience • Year One - secondary PE teachers and secondary PE trainee teachers • Year Two onwards - Target audience extended to primary teachers and trainee teachers, and non teaching staff

  4. Delivery model • YST National Faculty • Project Ability sites • Links with key Initial Teacher Education providers

  5. YST National Faculty • A team of highly qualified consultants experienced in delivering high quality training to a range of education professionals • Thirty trainers able to deliver up to ten courses per year each - 1800 teachers

  6. Project Ability Sites • Fifty leading inclusive schools • A wide geographical spread • Excellent networks with other schools in their locale • Staff experienced in providing training to colleagues • Fifty sites able to offer three courses per year each - 9000 teachers

  7. ITE providers • Training lecturers working at key ITE providers in the Sainsbury’s resource • would allow us to reach 1000 new entrants to the profession every year • Genuinely sustainable impact

  8. Cascade • Each trained member of staff would be expected to work with a group of teachers and non teaching staff from their own school on completion • This provision will be built into the course content • This short chain would enable quality control

  10. Added Value • £1m funding from DfE for Top Sportsability - equipment & training for 450 SGO’s and 50 Project Ability sites • Active kids equipment to supplement Top Sportsability bags • Improved outcomes from School Games sponsorship

  11. The Resource • Web based resource - future proof & cost effective • Linked to other YST resources - top Sportsability, BUPA Start to Move, Matalan Top Sport • Linked to EFDS resources

  12. The Training • Six hour course, combining theoretical & practical elements • Tailor made for English context • Links to existing resources in terms of pedagogy

  13. Delivery • Incorporated into initial teacher training programmes • Variety of models for serving teachers - twilight, weekend, whole staff • Linked into Project Ability network training
