  17. Doric Order:For example, the Parthenon - temple of Athena Parthenos ("Virgin"), Greek goddess of wisdom, on the Acropolis in Athens. The Parthenon was built in the 5th century BC, and despite the enormous damage it has sustained over the centuries, it still communicates the ideals of order and harmony for which Greek architecture is known.

  18. Ionic Order:For example,Erechtheum - temple from the middle classical period of Greek art and architecture, built on the Acropolis of Athens between 421 and 405BC. The Erechtheum contained sanctuaries to Athena Polias, Poseidon, and Erechtheus.

  19. The Corinthian style is seldom used in the Greek world, but often seen on Roman temples. Its capital is very elaborate and decorated with acanthus leaves.

  21. Comic Strip Expectations After learning about the roles of women, men, boys, and slaves of Athens, choose a role that YOU would like to be if you lived in ancient Athens. Create a comic strip of the typical day in the life as that role in society. EXPECTATIONS: • Be NEAT and CREATIVE • Create it in COMIC STRIP format • Minimum of 6 comic boxes • Write descriptions for each box in complete sentences and with proper grammar and punctuation

Comparing and Contrasting the “Daily Life of Athens”Venn Diagram Expectations • When Ms. Reisch starts the timer, open the team envelope and pull out ONE paper clipped set of headings. • Using section 1 of our text (starting on pg. 198),your T-Notes, and your “Daily Life” chart that we created on Friday, find the most comparisons and contrasts your team can find. • Write your comparisons and contrasts on post-its and place them on the Venn Diagram. • Once your team Venn Diagram is complete, fill in your personal Venn Diagram. • Each member must be seated and have one hand raised so Ms. Reisch can check and approve. • If approved, remove post-its and repeat steps 1-6 with a new set of headings. If not approved, correct errors!
