  6. BECOMING A LEADER WORTH FOLLOWING MEANS DEVELOPING YOURSELF • If you want to be a leader who attracts quality people, the key is to become a person of quality yourself. Leadership is the ability to attract someone to the gifts, skills, and opportunities you offer as a leader. • Work harder on yourself than you do on your job. • We don’t get paid for the number of hours we work, we get paid for our value. BECOME more valuable. • SUCCESS IS NOT SOMETHING YOU PURSUE, SUCCESS IS SOMETHING YOU ATTRACT BECAUSE OF THE PERSON YOU BECOME.

  7. The question is NOT What am I getting here, the question is What am I becoming here? • How are you becoming better person? • If you SEEK you will FIND, but it’s important to know that finding is reserved for the seekers. We don’t find what we need…we find what we search for. • Being a LEADER is Being a READER. Words nourish the mind, words nourish the soul • Positive reinforcement: learning that there are rewards for doing something good, worthwhile and of value. The better you do the better your reward.

  8. BE WHERE YOU ARE AND CHOOSE WHERE TO BE • Learn to spend 80% of your time as a leader with the 20% who deserve it. • Spend individual time with 20% and Group time with 80% • YOUR time is as valuable as you CHOOSE to make it - Col 3:23 Whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as unto the Lord, and not just for man.

  9. It is so important to know what a good use of your time, and what is a waste of your time. Focusing on the negative is a waste of time. In fact it is often a massive error in judgment. DON’T CHASE THE BIRDS, IT’S MUCH MORE IMPORTANT TO STAY IN THE FIELD. • If we are not careful, we can become problem solvers instead of leaders. • Nehemiah was tested by others to come down from building to explain things to them. He refused and said ,”I cannot leave the task at hand to argue and explain to you.”

  10. Setting compelling goals • We take more time in planning a vacation than we do for our life. • What are your goals? • Any goal is a powerful motivator if there is a powerful reason behind it.

  11. Ask yourself these questions: • What do you want to do? • Who do I want to be? • What do I want to see? • What do I want to have? • Where do I want to go?

  12. SKILLS INVOLVED IN BUILDING A SOLID STAFF/FAMILY • Communication – Everybody needs to be heard, and everyone has to acknowledge that everyone’s voice counts • Activity – purposeful, visionary • Spiritual Connection
