UCAS Student Direction ~ Part 1 Obj: To understand how to access and use student areas of UCAS To login and complete the first 3 sections of the UCAS application
Everyone! • Everyone will be spending the remainder of this session creating a UCAS profile and completing the basics of an application • It is easier to delete your application later, if you decide not to go to university, rather than starting one half way through next year.
BUZZWORD: qesdorset2013 Getting started… Take a note of username, password and ID number – Safe and reliable place! • http://www.ucas.ac.uk/students/apply/# • Logging on – Will take about 10 minutes! • Register/Login to use Apply 2013 • Click the register button and follow the prompts on the screen • You will need the ‘Buzzword’ – qesdorset2013 • Once registered, to access APPLY in the future students will use: Register/Log in to use Apply 2013 Login
Getting Started – Things to complete! 1) Personal details • Fee Code – 02 • Support arrangements – Dorset • Nominated Access – MUST register a parent/guardian who can access this on your behalf
Other areas to be completed! 2) Additional info : Ethnic and religious persuasions 3 ) Student Finance: Students should tick the box saying ‘not privately funded’ as this will register their intention to apply for finance. If students are not applying for finance and covering the costs themselves, they have to pick from the other options available.
Extra things to be doing! Next PSHE session you will be structuring your personal statements (or updating CV / writing covering letters / WEX letters) You need to start researching: • Universities you want to go to • Grades that you need • Specific skills/WEX related to the course (SO IMPORTANT !!!!!) • What ‘type’ of person the university is looking for to apply for this course
