Executive Summary Highlights of MCHS @ SJDC • MCHS is an AVID school, considered a safe school and a high performing school • 49% of student body is part of the free/reduced lunch program • API of 884 for 2009; 97% of student proficient or above in ELA • CA Distinguished School, National Blue Ribbon School, Top 1500 High Schools in the Nation • Average of 71% of students receive a letter grade of A or B in college classes • Number of students graduating with an AA degree has grown from 5 in 2007 to 27 in 2009 • 2009-10 goal is to solidify our program and continue to assure all students succeed

A Brief History • MCHS @ San Joaquin Delta College opened in the fall of 2000 • Jeff Thompson was the founding principal • He received the California Community College Chancellor’s Middle College High School Grant • MCHS converted to the early college model in 2003 using a grant from the Gates Foundation

  4. Middle College High School is: • A Middle College National Consortium School • An AVID school • A Safe School • An Expulsion Free and Low Suspension School • A 49% Free-and-reduced Lunch School • A 240 Student Capacity School

  5. Enrollment Pattern • In 2008-09 • 153 students from LUSD • 68 students from Stockton Unified • 16 students from Lincoln Unified • 4 students from Manteca Unified • 4 students from Linden Unified • 1 student from Oakdale Unified • 1 student from Tracy Unified • 1 student from Waterford Unified

  14. Associate of Arts Degree • 2007 five students graduated with both a high school diploma and an AA degree • 2008 twelve students graduated with both a high school diploma and an AA degree • 2009 twenty-seven graduated with both a high school diploma and an AA degree

MCHS Goals • To enhance and strengthen articulation between college staff and high school staff • To collect data on graduates in order to gauge the effectiveness of our program and to determine needed growth areas • To improve the monitoring and support of the academic support for our students in their college courses • To continue strive to maintain and improve the academic achievement of all students with emphasis on completion of an AA degree and/or 60 transferable credits. • To celebrate our 10th year of serving students!
