  3. What is energy? • The capacity to do work (Work = force x distance) (Force = mass x acceleration) • It causes matter to move • It causes changes in matter • It is a property of matter (matter = the stuff of the universe)(matter = anything that has mass and volume)

  21. The point…so far: • The definition of matter is anything with mass and volume • Density, which is a ratio of mass and volume, is a very hard concept to teach • Use the words mass and volume when playing with buoyancy, sink and float, “floatiness,” or whatever.
