IPL 2021 : Virender Sehwag reveals why Manish Pandey fails to win for SRH The third match of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad was a run-fest as the batsmen from both sides stole the show. KKR managed to post 188 runs in 20 overs and while chasing the target, SRH looked well settled in between with Jonny Bairstow and Manish Pandey taking the onus of reaching the finish line. However, Bairstow’s dismissal in the 13th over broke the shackle of the batting line-up. Mohammed Nabi and Vijay Shankar got out very cheaply soon after. And, the set batsman Pandey was also seen struggling to score runs in the death overs as he couldn’t accelerate the scores by hitting big shots. Although Pandey remained unbeaten, SRH lost the game by ten runs and he has been placed under major scrutiny for his game as well.   2. “Pandey couldn’t hit a boundary in the last three overs he batted against KKR. He had an important role play. He already had faced the pressure and was set. Had he taken the initiative to smash a few boundaries, SRH wouldn’t have lost the game by 10 runs,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz. “It happens sometimes that you are a set batsman but you don’t get the balls to hit. I think the same thing had happened with Manish Pandey. He didn’t get any ball in his radar and hence, he couldn’t hit a six,” he further added. Even, after the match against SRH and KKR, Virender Sehwag took to his official Twitter account and tweeted over it where he indirectly slammed Manish Pandey saying that the teams having ‘stat padding batsmen’, who can’t increase their strike rate even after playing for long, will struggle in the tournament as well.
