    31. Instance UIDs (Unique Identifiers) Every single image contains all three of these Instance UIDs. The Instance UIDs are the key to the relationship of each Image within a Series and each Series within a Study. The Study IUID should be generated by the VI Text Gateway (will contain the VI root of 1.2.840.113754) Series and Image are generated by the modality vendor (or creator of the image).

    46. PACS Interface A PACS Interface is used any time we are sending DICOM N-Event messages to a PACS Broker (Mitra, DeJarnette) which then formulates its own worklist for modalities to query. The interface is setup by using an entry in portlist.dic – this then listens for the PACS broker to connect. The status window – need only to be concerned with U and V matching up, and W and X matching as well.
