  1. “The campaign we outline in this book, though complex, depends centrally upon a program of unabashed propaganda, firmly grounded in long-established principles of psychology and advertising.” ~Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen, xxviii

  2. “….by conversion [toward public acceptance of homosexuality] we mean something far more profoundly threatening to the American Way of Life, without which no truly sweeping social change can occur. We mean conversion of the average American’s emotions, mind, and will, through a planned psychological attack, in the form of propaganda fed to the nation via the media.” - Kirk & Madsen, After the Ball, page. 153.

  3. … as the Harvard scholars reviewed the manuscript, they found it revealed married Men and women live happier, healthier, more financially secure lives, and even have ‘more and better sex.’ So naturally, the university’s publication board members decided at the last minute NOT to publish the book!

  4. Position StatementExecutive Committee of SBC We affirm God's plan for marriage and sexual intimacy - one man, and one woman, for life. Homosexuality is not a "valid alternative lifestyle." The Bible condemns it as sin. It is not, however, unforgivable sin. The same redemption available to all sinners is available to homosexuals. They, too, may become new creations in Christ.

  5. "This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.” John 3:16-17 Message Translation

  6. American Beliefs about Same-Sex Attraction

  7. All Americans Catholic Protestant Born Again, Evangelical, or Fundamentalist* “Are you personally acquainted with someone who has same sex attraction?” Beliefs by Religious Affiliation *Self-identified subset of Protestants

  8. All Americans Catholic Protestant Born Again, Evangelical, or Fundamentalist* “If you were considering visiting or joining a church, would knowing that the church taught that homosexual behavior was sinful impact your decision?” Beliefs by Religious Affiliation *Self-identified subset of Protestants 49% of those who never attend church, mosque, synagogue or other place of worship indicated “It would negatively impact it”

  9. Do people “choose” to be gay? • Can you be homosexual and a • Christian? (some people don’t understand this) • How should the church respond?

  10. Xq28 • Magnus Hirschfeld, a 3rd sex, possessing traits of both sexes. • Simon Levay,1991 Salk Instutitute, ‘third interstitial nucleus of the anterior hypothalmus’ • Dean Hamer, National Institute of Health (Xq28)

  11. “Genetic Determinism” ”For the Christian, genetic determinism poses a theological conundrum as well - How can a just and loving God punish someone for their sins if it is simply the outworking of a seemingly random combination of nucleic acids?”

  12. “Homosexuality: Innate and Immutable?”Regent University Law Review, Volume 14 (2002) “Although the popular perception of homosexuality has been, at least in men, … caused by biological factors, the most current and best scientific evidence appears to show that at most homosexuality is only influenced by biology in a predisposing way.”

  13. “… finding a gay gene will not diminish homophobia: "This is also a naïve view. Racism has not diminished because we know that blackness or whiteness is genetic. Sexism exists even though we know that sex is genetic. Since finding a gay gene will neither make homosexuality morally or socially acceptable nor will it diminish homophobia, …”

  14. 6 primary places where the Bible directly mentions homosexuality • 1) Genesis 19:4-11 • 2) Leviticus 18: 22 • 3) Leviticus 20:13 • 4) Romans 1:26- 27 • 5) 1 Corinthians 6:9 • 6) 1 Timothy 1:10

  15. The Holiness Code • Leviticus 19:2 • Leviticus 20:26 • “ You are to be holy to me, because I have set you apart from the nations to be my own”

  16. Leviticus 18:22 "'Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.”

  17. Leviticus 20:13 "'If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”

  18. What did Jesus say about homosexuality?

  19. What did Jesus say about homosexuality? Nothing. But He didn’t talk about many things that he would not affirm.

  20. What Jesus did say was consistently giving he positive example of man and woman in marriage. For someone who was breaking taboos, Jesus never tried to break a taboo of homosexual practice.

  21. Overall Sexual Ethics In the Bible Throughout the entire Bible there are no positive examples of homosexual practice being endorsed or approved of by God. The actual biology of man and woman is a case for natural design.

  22. There are books written which go into this in great detail: Welcoming But Not Affirming: An Evangelical Response to Homosexuality By Stanley Grenz

  23. There are books written which go into this in great detail: Homosexuality: Contemporary Claims Examined In The Light of the Bible and Other Ancient Literature and Law By James DeYoung

  24. Expressing God’s Heart “Our mandate, then, is to be His visible expression on earth of both His heart and His mind towards homosexual people and homosexuality itself.” (p. 2)

  25. Repenting of our immorality “It may well be that the immorality and weakness within the body of Christ has caused us to abdicate our moral authority and to speak to the issue of our time.” (p. 3)

  26. Repent of hostility toward homosexual people. “To hear some of us talk, you’d think it’s more important to politically defeat homosexuals than it is to see them won into the kingdom of God.” (p. 6)

  27. “ … appear to be obsessed with seeing people convert from homosexuality to heterosexuality. Don’t they realize that heterosexuals can go to hell just as easily as homosexuals? The issue is, where do they stand? If they’re dead in sin, it hardly matters what the sin, they are dead in sin!” (p. 12)

  28. Walk alongside with love “The voice that must go out from the Christian community is one that is absolutely unsparing in truth and will not compromise under the worst conditions, yet also equally unsparing in love, …” (p. 14)

  30. may we be… The church is a loving and welcoming community where everyone can be transformed by the Spirit to walk in the ways of Jesus.
