“Little Sure Shot” Annie Oakley

2. Young Years Annie Oakley was born into a very poor family who barely had enough money and had little food. One day she decided to take her dad’s gun and try shooting some animals for food and hide. She aimed at a squirrel, shot the gun, fell out a tree and saw that she successfully shot the squirrel. She was then able to help support her family.

3. Moving to Cincinnati Lyda said that Annie would love Cincinnati. When Annie was 15 she moved to Cincinnati with her sister Lyda and Lyda was right. They had shooting ranges open for girls and boys and one day a man watched her and told her about the shooting competition versus Frank Butler another famous sharpshooter. On the last target Frank missed the target and Annie made the shot which meant Annie won. After the match Frank and Annie started dating and then after a year they got married.

4. Business is Booming After they got married Frank went on tour to have people admire his shooting tricks. Annie decided to try the tricks so when Frank comes back she can show her moves. When Frank goes back Annie shoots her shots perfectly and it is a good thing she did because Frank’s partner got sick.

5. A New Occupation Eventually a man that ran a circus came and called Annie “Little Sure Shot” . Then he asked Annie if they would come with his circus and travel the world and she said yes. Eventually Annie shot a cigarette top out of a prince’s mouth. They got homesick and left but Annie never stopped surprising people with her shooting

6. Death Has Come Annie finally died 3 weeks before Frank and her name is still never forgotten.
