  2. First amendment • Guarantees freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition.

  3. Second amendment • Gives the right to bear arms.

  4. Third amendment • No quartering of soldiers in private homes.

  5. Fourth amendment • Bans illegal search and seizure.

  6. Fifth amendment • Ensures legal protections and prohibits double jeopardy and forced testimony against oneself.

  7. Sixth amendment • Gives rights to a lawyer, speedy trial, and a jury in criminal cases.

  8. Seventh amendment • Gives rights to a jury trial in civil cases (lawsuits)

  9. Eighth amendment • Outlaws cruel and unusual punishments and excessive fines (bail)

  10. Ninth amendment • Protects rights not listed in other amendments.

  11. Tenth amendment • Grants powers not in the Constitution to the states.
